WELCOME
Hello and welcome
to our website. We are Joan and Jeff Sheehan, we live in West Yorkshire with
our two grown up kids and we currently own five Malamutes.
Our Kennel name is Amaqqut, which means "wolves" in one of the many Inuit dialects.
We entered the
Malamute world several years ago now. We had spent a couple of years
researching the breed on the Internet, at dog shows and visiting Discover
Dogs at Earls Court before taking the plunge.
As the kids were
growing up, we decided the time was right to fulfil our dream of owning a
large breed together. Jeff had grown up with St. Bernards and Pyrenean
Mountain Dogs amongst other smaller breeds, I had owned Cocker Spaniels and it had always been a dream
for me to own a large breed. It was a long search but after a close call
with the Tibetan Mastiff, we decided that Malamutes were the breed for us.
We have never looked back. Our dogs mean the world to us and although it is
hard work, we have never regretted our decision.
We are members of
the Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK and the Siberian Husky Club of GB and
Joan currently sits on the AMCUK committee. We are active with our dogs,
showing, running in harness, backpacking and weight pulling. Kodi was one of
the first two UK bred Malamutes to earn a working title in Jan 2007 and the
first dual titled UK Malamute in April 2008. We
like to see our dogs working in all disciplines.
Our thanks go to
Walt and Kath Howarth of Hawkam Alaskan Malamutes and Canadian Eskimo Dogs
in Lincolnshire who put their trust in us and allowed us to enter the
Malamute world. They continue to support us in all we do and we consider
them to be two of our closest friends. |
